No Experience, No Membership needed!
Out There Sailing is for teens looking for a weekend program to learn/progress in sailing, as well as a variety of other water sports, having fun and making new friends!
This program is designed for teens aged 12-17 who have limited or no sailing experience but would like to learn,
OR who do have experience but do not wish to compete at a club level,
OR who just want to sail for FUN!
The program includes: Learning to sail a Hobie Wave Catamaran and RS Quest Dinghy, Windsurfing, Stand Up Paddle boarding, power boats, and beach games.
There will also be opportunity for special sailing events, social events, beach trips, camp trips, and a range of other on water activity
Outcomes
Over the course of the program, youth will build the skills and confidence needed to crew an RS Quest Dinghy and sail with that crew without support.
This is a tiered program. Kids of like skills and age are paired together to get the most growth relevant to their needs.
As they grow in their skills they will move on to racing and other more challenging sailing objectives (rescues, man over board, single person sailing) with their crew.
What's next
There's so many pathways for our Junior Sailors, and the club works to provide ample opportunities to get them exposure to the world of Sailing
Whether it be Dinghy's Catamarans, Keelboats, Windsurfing, or even power boating.
Naturally once your child has enough confidence and skill they will move over to Holywell Sailing Squadron and sail with the Performance Team on Thursday nights (3:30pm-6pm) and Race on Sunday afternoons (11:30am-4pm). (This will require investing in their own boat)
Don't stress, we'll talk with you and your kids throughout the program to identify which path best suits.
Mentor Program
There is also opportunity to join our team of Mentors!
Mentors are Junior Volunteers who support our Instructors on and off the water to deliver exceptional programs.
The Mentor Pathway demands a high level of dedication and responsibility but leads to the future opportunity of becoming an Instructor
