Confidently swim 50m with a lifejacket

Australian Sailing Certificates: Start Sailing 1 & 2

What to bring:

- Hat
- Sunnies
- Water Bottle
- Swimmers
- Shoes that can get wet and wont fall off
- Towel
- Change of clothes
- Rain Coat (if raining)

We recommend the use of helmets, although it is not mandatory, it is highly suggested. You can purchase Zhik Kollition Helmets from Academy Reception at a greatly subsidised price of $40 (RRP $169.95). This is thanks to the SYC Board's initiative towards safety, and a generous SYC club member who funded the difference in RRP and our sale price ($129.95 off per helmet).

 

Overview
Over the course of the program, teens will build the skills and confidence needed to crew an RS Quest Dinghy with 2 other sailors.
This is a tiered program. Teens of like skills and age are paired together to get the most growth relevant to their needs.
As they grow in their skills they will move on to racing and other more challenging sailing objectives (rescues, man over board, single person sailing) with their crew.

What's next
After completing the course, teens will be invited to join the Fleet at Holywell Sailing Squadron, where they will learn about weather and tides, stronger winds, and rules of the road around other boats.
